Pros
Retirement matching plan, work/life balance (but be careful taking FMLA leave can result in repercussions depending on manager), decent living wage, and cafeteria on campus.
Cons
Lack of good management of resources, mission, budgets, and staff. Lack of clear/consistent communication throughout all levels of organization. Lack of employee relations. Lack of management adherence to MITRE's cultural attributes: speed, risk, adaptability, collaboration, grace and respect - these are just words that sound good on paper and to the Board of Trustees. Although there are a few good leaders, most managers from the director level to SVP are dismissive and demeaning to staff that fall below them. Many concerns about culture, hostile work environment, and bullying are dismissed. When those concerns are aired through proper channels typically results in repercussions. Poor leadership at the top trickles down to dissatisfied employees creating a toxic environment. Finally, in response to Slack chats concerning the culture and management, MITRE recently removed the "anonymous" feature in Slack, in an effort to squash complaints and continue with the corporate propaganda.
