* Zero growth opportunities both intellectually and professionally.
** Intellectually as an engineer you have zero incentive to learn/grow due to nobody facing consequences for poor work. There are pockets of great engineers but they are largely lost in the swarm of subpar engineers sitting in seats they will never lose.
** Professionally there is no title advancement unless management is going to start asking more of you so there is no point in working towards that either.
* There are many layers of upper management all with poor communication. Too often decisions are made affecting various departments and they are only told about the decision after the fact rather than being involved in the decision making process.
* Middle managers are overburdened by both amount of direct reports and responsibilities to upper management. This company is the first for me where I genuinely feel bad for middle management.
