Pros

Over the past couple of years, I’ve had the chance to grow into a management role within project accounting. Starting out, I didn’t come from a strong real estate background, so there was a lot to learn. Handling draw package, budgets, lender reporting, and financial tracking for different projects really helped me build my knowledge and confidence over time. One thing I learned here is that growth does not happen automatically. You have to stay consistent, put in the effort, and be willing to take on work that may feel outside your comfort zone. There were many situations where I had to learn quickly, stay focused under pressure, and take on responsibilities I had never handled before. Being open to feedback and willing to learn made a big difference in my growth. Leadership also played a huge role in my journey, especially the CFO. Her guidance, strategic thinking, and support pushed me to grow professionally and think beyond just the day to day tasks. Even during challenging situations, there was always support and direction when needed. The culture here is very collaborative and fast paced. Expectations are high, but hard work is recognized. It’s definitely an environment where you grow by experience. If you are willing to stay focused, keep learning, and put in the extra effort, there are real opportunities to move forward and grow into bigger roles.

Cons

High expectations and tight timelines can sometimes create pressure.

Pros

Team members at the staff level are generally professional, capable, and supportive of one another. The work itself can offer learning opportunities and exposure to complex responsibilities.

Cons

A number of employee reviews have previously noted concerns related to leadership approach within the finance department, and similar challenges appear to persist. Following critical feedback, there has been a noticeable increase in highly positive reviews, which some employees perceive as not fully reflective of the broader range of experiences within the department. As a result, some staff feel that anonymous platforms such as Glassdoor are the most comfortable space to share concerns or perspective. This dynamic has contributed to uncertainty around whether internal feedback mechanisms are effective or safe to use It is also understood among staff that at least one employee sought external guidance regarding workplace concerns, and that this matter was known to the Ontario Ministry of Labour. Many employees report hesitancy in raising concerns internally due to perceived risk of negative consequences, which may limit open dialogue. Overall This department has dedicated employees and potential. Addressing workload sustainability, retention of experienced staff, and trust in feedback processes could help create a more balanced and supportive workplace culture.

Pros

I’m pleased to share my experience working with the organization almost 2 years The workplace culture is collaborative and welcoming. New team members are integrated smoothly, and there’s a strong sense of support where colleagues are always willing to help and guide each other. It makes it easier to settle in and contribute from early on. One of the biggest strengths is the leadership. The team is led by approachable and experienced leaders who stay involved, provide clear direction, and keep everyone aligned. The CFO, in particular, brings an immense breadth of experience that goes far beyond simple accounting; she has a broad, strategic perspective. In every discussion, she provides clear guidance, keeps the team on track, and uplifts the team with her focus and support. Communication is open, and ideas are genuinely heard and considered. There’s also consistent mentorship and guidance, which helps with both professional development and handling day to day challenges. There’s good transparency in how work is managed. Expectations around deadlines are clearly communicated, and when extra effort is needed, it’s usually discussed in advance so things can be planned properly. Overall, it’s been a positive experience. The team is engaged, and it’s a good environment for people who are willing to learn, stay focused, and grow.

Cons

Work can become fast-paced at times, especially during peak periods, which may require flexibility and strong prioritization skills.
