Pros

I love retail life, it's truly about supporting HER and her shopping experience. Kohl's is about everyday families. They have two leading women at the top (one of a very few in the fortune 500). Base compensation is good. If you can dream of a new concept and garner support you can influence a project roadmap. Opportunity to try different things.

Cons

Most of the digital team sits in Milpitas, CA, far away from the Wisconsin HQ. It has the struggles of a satellite office, where you must gain agreement and alignment from the mothership to do anything. While I met and made many great friends there, my general experience was one of isolation. The office is predominantly Indian, in my time there I had 5 layers of Indian male leadership, all from an engineering background, there is a lot of nepotism that exists. If you are a woman or non-Indian this may not be the place for you because your growth will be limited. In my three years there, in the levels of Director, VP, not one woman was in the seat for my organization specifically. Also if you are not Indian you will be culturally isolated in so many ways, the celebrations, the food, not being invited to the lunch table, not speaking the language etc. Diversity is not a big priority for this place, but it would surely help this great company become greater.

Pros

(Mostly) amazing coworkers and flexible schedule most of the time. Good part time job for college students. Pay was decent.

Cons

Very limited full-time positions, leaves little room for career opportunities. Terrible team environment, feels like a fend for yourself fiasco everyday. I didn’t feel as if my managers or anyone at corporate really cared about any employees and it was just the employees caring for each other. Training times were wildly short, usually only a short shift or two on each area to train (registers, floor, bopus, etc). Corporate is difficult to get in touch with even for customers and they WILL take it out on you and management at any level does not seem to care.
