Pros
Lower pressure than what is found at larger or publicly traded organizations. Unfortunately, the cause is because there is no planning or tracking against actuals Some individuals are very good and collaborative Pay is reasonable, not bad if you take into account the first point above Remote/hybrid work. Good equipment
Cons
IT leadership is lacking. There are senior managers, but no leaders. They accept all the wins and praises but blame any losses or issues on lower levels. No tech acumen In general, senior leadership have the positions because of time served, not because of leader leadership skills Initiatives for improvement get shot down by some/most managers and some teams just don’t want to change Very high average age in the technology area A lot of people has never worked elsewhere. They have an extremely limited vision of how corporate and technology practices. The resistance to change is very high People leave in hordes. They justify it on the “great resignation”. People leaving started well before that term was coined. Again, no accountability for bad management and practices. They keep blaming the lower levels and the market conditions They source from similar companies, with similar issues Many people come to or stay at the Company to retire. They don’t want change, new technology or practices, just doing the same for 10 years more
