Pros
HDR is an excellent company that has an extremely sound business model, is managed with excellence, and treats their employees extremely well. Employee ownership culture allows individuals to truly drive personal and company success. Good salary, excellent benefits, tremendous stock growth, and well run and managed at local, regional and corporate levels. Local level managers are engaged and genuinely support their employees. Great projects provides employee opportunity and career growth, a variety of experiences, many challenges and rewards, fosters team work and partnership, and exposure to clients.
Cons
Company growth and drive to minimize corporate overhead limits employee training, assignments, promotion, and individual opportunity. Company culture and management seems to be treading toward a singular focus on stock price, resulting in high utilization goals, lots of unpaid after hours work and marketing, loss of career training and advancement, and work/life balance. Limited managers at regional and corporate levels spreads support and leadership thin resulting in inadequate engagement and input at the program and project level. Must be plugged into the HDR hierarchy and have relationship with leadership to advance and weather slow periods when the local market have downturns. Willing to travel and relocate key to job security and career advancement.
