Pros

When I was hired my trainer told me the greatest part of working at GEICO is the people. I met so many fantastic coworkers and made many friends at this job.

Cons

I've worked in insurance for almost two decades. Never have I had an employer set goals, allow you to go months meeting or exceeding that goal only to say "oops nevermind we're changing how things work and now your getting downgraded and ranked lower than your peers for doing exactly what we told you to do." I've been with other companies who handled layoffs with integrity and kindness. GEICO laid people off with absolutely zero communication as to who was laid off or why or if there were more layoffs that just hadn't been announced. Many in my region were left waiting not knowing if their jobs were safe for almost 48hours before upper management decided to care and communicate that yes they were done axing people. The goals have changed at least 6 times maybe more in the 2023 year. They will make a goal, modify the goal, increase the goal, change the means by how the goal was measured over and over till you feel like you are losing your mind. As a supervisor I was left all alone to explain the assinine changes and help employees recalibrate yet again to their new reality. You are ranked against your peers nationwide as a number on a spreadsheet that is manipulated by upper management with no integrity.

Strong opportunities for career growth Many people are willing to mentor and support others without expecting anything in return Supportive culture, even from people who may not know you personally Increased focus on education and development, especially for leaders More company activities at the local office, which has been a welcome change Fun associate engagement opportunities like escape rooms, art activities, games, and food events So many opportunities for recognition

There are still some areas where the company appears to be rebuilding trust and confidence Change is noticeable and appreciated, but some improvements are still in progress Feedback has clearly helped shape recent changes, and it will be good to see that progress continue
