Pros

I briefly worked at Flame PR recently, sitting on the board of directors as a member of the senior leadership team. For PR professionals with over a year’s worth of agency experience, avoid this company like the plague, their reputation in the industry is abysmal. According to EVERY top city recruiter Sterling Media, Chase PR and Flame PR are the 3 worst London PR agencies for staff turnover and client churn. Quite simply it was the worst experience I’ve ever had in my working career; all seasoned PRs begin interviewing elsewhere within 2 weeks of staring at Flame PR. Very misleading looking at the Flame PR website, all senior personnel (except for 1) have left. Nearly all have also removed Flame PR from their LinkedIn, as have I Nice Central London office, 10 mins walk either from Old Street, or the Barbican tube stations

Cons

Owners- The owners are a husband-and-wife team. The Managing Director, Kully Dhadda likes to boast that one of the company’s key tenets is ‘transparency’, however in reality there are no basic processes for client servicing (no client facing documents, no media lists, opaque pricing structures etc.). Kully’s directives always contradict each other, usually in the same day, leading to confusion and despair. Kully husband, David Barr, is utterly useless and passive. With nothing to do he wastes time coming up with needless new graphs to explain the agency’s hierarchy or ‘processes. High churn- Employee contracts are written so you are on probation in perpetuity, meaning you are only on one week’s notice, basically forever. Putting it into perspective, probationary periods for 99% of UK companies are around 3 months. Job insecurity will constantly be on your mind and demonstrates Kully and David’s toxic ‘churn and burn’ mentality. Non-existent corporate culture beyond frequent smoking breaks for team members that smoke, as well as continuous drama and tears from junior employees scared to voice opinions. Team and training opportunities- Zero. One Account Executive had been there for over 18 months and still didn’t know what a forward feature is. All attempts to correct this were undermined by Kully, who believes forward features ‘aren’t really that important’ in B2B PR. Time- although your contract states 40 hours a working week, you are expected to be in the office at 8am with working hours ending whenever Kully decides to finish. Due to her scattershot approach and diabolical time management, 9pm finishes are standard. While your contract provides you with an hour for lunch, in reality you are expected to have ate and be back at your desk within 20 mins. Meaningless meetings- with no clear chain of command or up to date campaign documents, you will be forced to waste time in endless meetings with team members just for simple progress updates. Any attempts to reform and streamline this approach will be angrily stifled by the owners.

Flame PR Response

We’re disappointed to read that your experience with us was not a positive one and regret that it left such strong feelings. This is never the outcome we want for anyone who joins or leaves the business. We understand that working styles and expectations can differ, particularly in a fast-paced agency environment – where pressures of delivering quality work in a timely manner are ever-present. Nonetheless, we continue to focus on strengthening our internal processes, communication, and collaborative culture to ensure clarity, flexibility, and a positive experience for our team. A six-month probation period is standard across the PR industry. We also fast-track staff whose performance demonstrates strong capability and thorough understanding of the company’s client work, confirming their long-term place within the team. Probation serves as an opportunity for both the company and the employee to ensure the role is a good fit, while allowing flexibility with a week’s notice period if either party decides to move on. We recognise the importance of work-life balance and strive to ensure our people can work regular hours, rest, and recharge, enabling them to enjoy their time at work AND perform at their best to deliver high-quality results. While there are occasions when additional effort is required to meet client needs, this is not an ongoing expectation. We automatically provide time off in lieu for any additional hours worked, to recognise our team’s dedication and support their wellbeing, as well as maintain fairness. We are delighted that many team members have used their accrued time for a fun day out or for something they have been meaning to do, allowing them to enjoy a well-earned break without using their annual leave, and showing our appreciation for their hard work. With the dedication, support, and professionalism of our team, we’re proud of the long-term client relationships we’ve built together. We welcome all feedback that helps us refine how we operate and continue improving the way we support both our people and our clients.
