Pros

Weekly pay, Sundays off (FedEx Express)

Cons

Underpaid, considering their top competitor’s pay… poor organization… lack of structure and communication, unless you’re being reprimanded… no work- life balance, just all work… they give you a schedule frame upon hire (ex: Route 123, Mon- Fri 8a-5p) but there is only a scheduled time to come in and work until load is complete, no matter the time. If they don’t have enough Tues-Sat employees, they start to draft Mon-Fri employees involuntarily. If you refuse, they do underhanded things like cut your hours. Extremely hot and cold weather conditions. Managers only look out for their individual work groups, instead of pushing collaborative company teamwork. Micromanagement is unbearable, through installed vehicle cameras monitoring your every move, immediately sending video notification to management if you “blink” wrong. The company stresses no cell phones while on road, when it’s the only source of GPS, as well as management calling and texting your personal phone throughout the day while on road. Management will overwhelm you with meeting 3-4 different commit times, despite mishaps on the company’s part. If they don’t enough bodies to cover all routes, management divides the load with the loop, with no consideration to your life or plans outside of work. They don’t ask, they tell you. And sometimes your load is so heavy, you have to work though your lunch, yet still put it in the system as if one was taken. If you don’t, you get written up and possibly terminated. If you’re looking to advance, it can be done but many have left due to stagnation. Some managers will give you a “Team Lead” title but only use you to do tasks they don’t want to bother with, so you become stuck. You still have to run a full route on top of taking on leadership responsibilities. So it’s early mornings and late nights. Oh yeah, you don’t get paid for extra training hours put in and you don’t get a raise for moving up to Lead.

Pros

Easy to apply, fast to get hired (no interview process) and the pay

Cons

Very rude management, lack of care for safety, no drinkable water (all filters are in the red and have been since I started) They have cameras everywhere and are constantly watching you but say you can’t bring your own phone in because “people steal them”? There is junk everywhere. Lots of trash everywhere (employees drinks and food). They want you to work and eat on the line instead of giving you breaks to do so. They get upset when you use the bathroom or fill your water bottle even if you’ve been working for 3 hours straight but if you clock in at an area 2 min walking distance from your work area you’re “stealing time” I’ve noticed people of color get treated differently. The HR department has some of the most prejudice employees so there’s no real equality if you have conflict with someone. I’ve never been, but it feels like a prison to go in and out of the building and lastly you don’t work a consistent schedule. You leave when they say you can.
