It doesn’t make sense to hire smart people and than tell them how to do their job. Companies hire smart people so they can contribute to the success of a company. Unfortunately Exelixis continues to demotivate their staff and treat them as disposable commodities. They make mountains out of molehills for simple things as an employee needing time off or wanting to take their lunch earlier. Employees should feel comfortable to approach at all times, but when they’re inflexible, it creates a wall between you and the team. I am not saying being unethical or breaking procedure, but putting your team first and using your judgement in certain situations, will make people more inclined to trust.
