Pros

Cool building and casual dress code

Cons

Many people feel underpaid for the amount that they work - and many feel constantly overworked. Management lacks transparency in their expectations for you, and this isn’t just high level managers, but direct superiors. It’s very easy to be suckered in by the “paid travel” perk, but it is very possible that you won’t travel at all. Finally, bias and cliques are very alive here, and if the “big happy family” idea seems to good to be true, you’re right. Overall, EF presents a very attractive picture to younger applicants in particular, as they hire them in large groups to compensate for the high turnover. Remember that this is a place of business and has its faults, stressors, and ugly secrets just like anywhere else.

It is true that we work hard at EF, but we also endeavor to help staff balance their professional and personal interests by offering a variety of opportunities to learn (through professional development workshops, free language classes) and have fun (through free exercise classes, trivia nights, and service projects). Ours is a very goal-oriented culture, which ideally helps to make expectations clear. I'm sorry that that wasn't your experience. Our strategy of onboarding large start groups is a reflection of both our growth and investment in our new team members. The large start groups give new hires a cohort of peers to share in the experience of onboarding and going through our extensive training programs.

Pros

You get to choose your tour and recruit the students you want to bring. The paid chaperone ratio is 6:1, so it is very manageable. The tours are great and the local experts are wonderful.

Cons

Company support is variable. There is high turnover and new consultants are very sales motivated and don't always get the nuances of your school or community group. I have had some WONDERFUL concusltants, but they have always been promoted before I get to work with them again.
