Pros

Large company with many different types of positions. Depending on your job, it’s relatively easy to transfer to other cities and maintain salary/employer history.

Cons

> The HR department is run by women who have made it their mission to keep men out of management positions. > Too many businesses trying to distribute their services/products through the financial centers. > Very complicated variable compensation plans, that change yearly. > Sales goals are NOT sustainable year over year. A great year must be followed by a bad year to reset your sales goals to an attainable level. > To many bonuses are tied to group effort which penalizes a top performer in a poorly producing financial center.

Pros

Hybrid schedule, supportive managers, opportunities

Cons

Once you’re in, comp basically plateaus. Layoffs are happening across the board, which tends to be the full-time culture of citi. The vibe is very much “run lean” until something actually breaks, and only then consider adding headcount. You have to be intentional about protecting your work-life balance, because the implicit expectation is that you’re always on—24/7, 365—without the support of a properly staffed team.
