Pros
Good work/life balance Free lunch Free trip to Israel! Most of the employees (non-upper-management) are good at what they do
Cons
No telecommuting allowed, even checking email from outside the office is a hassle Company is absurdly bureaucratic, down to timing when salaried employees clock in and out. The issue tracking system is used for metrics and constantly gamed by everybody involved. Company is too cheap to get developers standard and decent tools, like large monitors and modern computers. Absolutely no concern for employee productivity. Dogfood is a way of life to an absurd degree. As in, you might not have any access to internal network resources all day because we're dogfooding a buggy firewall build. Very top-down management. Much time is wasted in building and supporting prototypes and mockups and intermediate builds so that the VPs can say that they are terrible. They are the only people whose opinions matter. Products end up getting shaped to meet the needs of the Check Point leadership and not of the broader user base. Weak engineering culture, due to the way projects are managed. Hard to take pride in one's work given the caliber of product turned out and the level of support provided to customers.
