Pros

Sorry, the good times are over. Come back in one or two years maybe.

Cons

We didn't think it possible, but things have gone worse with the new management: nepotism with "band of bros" culture from UK colleagues, disregard for local talents, inconsistency in strategy and high level of opacity. Waves of departures / lay-offs, many of them going to the client side, which made the situation worse. Some questionable promotions have challenged the remaining credit the management had, encouraging further departure. One day you get a strategic pet talk on how good things are, the next one 20 people are laid off without any explanation.

Capco Response

We are disappointed to read your comments. The leadership team is committed to investing in the career development of all colleagues, and we hire people from a range of backgrounds who bring a variety of experience to Capco. Regarding promotions, we run two promotion cycles per year and individuals who have been performing at the next level for a sustained period can be considered for promotion. There is a clear assessment process, which includes feedback and input from a number of stakeholders, and criteria for promotions which is shared with all employees. The business strategy is shared regularly alongside business updates through quarterly APAC-wide Town Halls, as well as regional Town Halls in our local offices, Lunch with Leadership sessions and other channels. As is standard with other consulting firms, Capco makes an effort to manage and balance employee resources and staffing in relation to client demand. Our aim is to always remain a people-centric firm and to provide options for our people. As a business, we have had to take some decisions recently based on skillsets and evolving client demand, which has led to some departures. Following this we held an informal Town Hall for our Hong Kong team to provide a forum for employees to raise questions or concerns with the leadership team, which was well received. We also followed this up very recently with an All Hands call hosted by our APAC Managing Partner for people to raise any questions they have and learn more about the business.

Pros

- Good work-life balance - Nice people - Cool office (Empire State Building)

Cons

- Low raises + bonuses (promotions are highly political/based on who you know) - Low mobility on certain projects - Difficult to get involved in planning/helping with community events (part of performance review) - Leadership positions competitive rates as our differentiator (i.e., firm competes on cost rather than on technical depth/expertise relative to peer firms)
