Pros
From a management perspective...there really isn't any I can honestly think of.
Cons
The disparity between resources (payroll etc.) and work load expectations is completely out of line and is the most distorted picture of business that I have seen in my 24 years of management. If a company wants to run on a base line of bare minimum payroll that's fine, but when it does this it needs to re-evaluate its processes and streamline it to be in line and functional to payroll expenditures. This company has done just the opposite. Cut payroll to a point that is utterly ridiculous and then increase work load expectations to be unacheivable. Thus creating a situation where store management can be fired at a moments notice for not keeping the building up to standard. Which interestingly enough lets the employer keep management payroll at a base minimum since buildings get a new leader every year or so (no more 30 year veterans making much larger salaries) and this new face is energized and not yet fully jaded with the situation and ready to kill themselves for the job. Until of course the constant failure and excessive hours finally kill the individual and they are replaced with a fresh new face that shouldn't manage an am/pm in my opinion. Now if we were going out of business I would understand how these stores are run, but we aren't going out of business but we are instead a multi-billion dollar company that is completely stable financially. So long story short, from an expectations point of view this is probably the worst employer you can possibly have as a manager and I would whole heartily dissuade any individual from coming to this place of utter delusion. I have worked for many retailers over my career so I have more than just an idea of what the norm should be. I will also say this to give some perspective on things...that within 3 years of my employment every other manager in the district had been replaced, no exaggeration. I am the sole survivor so far and honestly only stay because my wage is higher then the average bear. New hires will likely land around the 50-60k a year mark which is pathetic in my opinion for a position like this, which is why the stores are generally filled now with people that have relatively little management experience.
