Pros

I mean, it's a job, which is better than being unemployed, I guess. There's hardly any jobs in this industry, so if you get hired here, beggars can't be choosers.

Cons

- Lots of micromanagement. Plus, they don't take feedback/disagreements very well. Your best bet is to keep your head down and never air any disagreements with your bosses Also, if you make any simple mistake, get ready to be chewed out - Wild and unfair pay discrepancies. Plus, they're relying more and more on freelancers who get no benefits and can their hours cut at a moment's notice - Constant layoffs, which means constant understaffing - Horrible scheduling. Get ready to work lots of of weekends, evenings and holidays - There's zero downtime on your shift. If you're not working on a story, you're expected to be staring at the system for wire stories to pop up and post them. It honestly feels like make-work - Heavy reliance on clickbait - Corporate owners don't care about journalism. And why would they? BCE makes boatloads of money off of their telecom business, while the media business loses money
