Pros
Pleasantly located head-office; nice place to work Staff travel: excellent benefit esp on long-haul (remember only get on flights if seats available; length of service determines who gets on) In IT area quite informal collaborative, friendly atmosphere esp as had known colleagues for many years Hard working Unions to protect interests Pay Scheme tied to market so rewards for those who get noticed and sell themselves effectively Airline Group in with Iberia / Air Lingus and others gives opportunities to work overseas and to get introduced to new areas and collaborate widely; so company not parochial having a very international outlook Very inclusive with diversity rights Staff treated with respect in my experience esp in IT area Airline is in good position despite well-publicised problems; esp as other airlines like Ryanair have their own "issues"
Cons
Economies of scale with mergers under Airline Group means pressure on staff numbers esp at head office; more recently under latest CEO New contracts/ working practices in many areas plus Pension benefits eroded; so a "brave new world" for BA IT has undergone major outsourcing to Cognizant / TCS / NIIT despite many issues arguably attributable to this policy; plus new initiatives around Mobile exploitation going out to IT startups Working in terminals by all accounts has become pressurised possibly as result of staff reductions
