Inside Sales Dublin - AVOID, AVOID, AVOID
14 Aug 2017 - Inside Sales in Dublin, DublinRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Startup environment A lot of space for creativity Possibility to participate in all aspects of the business, make recommendations and influence Good brand on your CV Good training Nice office A lot of flexibility, although not for everyone Okay salary and good quarterly bonus
Cons
- No structure, processes, policies and procedures - Unprofessional, negative and bullying management behavior - Hostile working environment and negative culture - No KPIs - No incentives - No culture for recognition - No promised non-contractual benefits - Job spec and job description during the interview do not match the reality - No coaching and learning provided - Not central location and poor transport facilities - Complete disorder in the company on a global level as no one knows who is responsible for what and no one wants to take any responsibility but pointing fingers, which is not acceptable for such a global reputable company like BA - Poor career growth opportunities - Extremely complicated recruitment process taking 4-8 weeks - Prepare that no decisions are made in Dublin. You will always need HQ authorization and approval - 90% verbal and phone communication which takes a lot of your calendar time, most of the time for nothing. Everyone tries to avoid emails saying that "email is my enemy", so make sure to take notes of who said what and when as you will need it one day, unless you have a fantastic memory. - Do not trust anyone. Who is your friend today will turn into your enemy tomorrow. Stay professional but do not trust anyone in this company, they are all fake. - A lot of sales staff has been and is being made redundant after 20 years of service, so there is a lot of negativity around. Do not waste your careers by making this move. You will not learn anything but just waste your time, health and spoil your CV.

Pros
Open plan office which made all departments and levels of management approachable. Great environment and learning opportunities across the entire Americas region.
Cons
They're using software that is outdated which can often hinder work practices however there was talks of everything being upgraded soon.

The free tea and coffee. My desk is nice. The free British Airways highlighter pen. An appreciation that life is too short to work here.
Cons
Huge staff turnover. Management at all levels have no airline or travel industry experience whatsoever. Formal complaints made against staff for undermining their colleagues.

Don't waste your time

Able to book standby flights after 6 month probation is over
Cons
No communication No flexibility Management seems to have no responsibility No real Team Spirit No chance to progress in your role or salary if you don't want to move to London Overworked & workaholic managers who expect the same attitude from you
- Current Employee, more than 1 year★★★★★
Pros
Cheap airline tickets, travel
Cons
Management, cutting costs, Bonus is often more frustrating than motivating since the KPIs are always being changed to something new and often made public middle of the Quarter.

Pros
Good network and staff travel benefits. Trips especially longhaul still have a good amount of time downroute in comparison to other airlines. Union protects scheduling agreement reasonably well (although are slowly giving things away) which still seems better than most airlines. Ability to live and commute from anywhere in the world. Seniority based rostering. Training, engineering and safety is primary and maintained to a very high standard.
Cons
IAG bringing standard of treatment towards employees down as many other airlines including reducing rest where they can, getting max flying hours out of pilots and crew, quality of hotels (union still somewhat has a say in this). Not as good as other career airlines in terms of monetary package when Inc bonus etc and housing. Operating into Heathrow is a joke as they can’t even get enough people to switch on stand guidance and move air bridges.
