They're using software that is outdated which can often hinder work practices however there was talks of everything being upgraded soon.

I have been working at British Airways full-time

    Pros

The free tea and coffee. My desk is nice. The free British Airways highlighter pen. An appreciation that life is too short to work here.

    Cons

Huge staff turnover. Management at all levels have no airline or travel industry experience whatsoever. Formal complaints made against staff for undermining their colleagues.

    Advice to Management

Get new management before more staff leave.

Management, cutting costs, Bonus is often more frustrating than motivating since the KPIs are always being changed to something new and often made public middle of the Quarter.

    Advice to Management

treat employees better, get health insurance, bike to work scheme etc.

I have been working at British Airways full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Startup environment A lot of space for creativity Possibility to participate in all aspects of the business, make recommendations and influence Good brand on your CV Good training Nice office A lot of flexibility, although not for everyone Okay salary and good quarterly bonus

    Cons

    - No structure, processes, policies and procedures - Unprofessional, negative and bullying management behavior - Hostile working environment and negative culture - No KPIs - No incentives - No culture for recognition - No promised non-contractual benefits - Job spec and job description during the interview do not match the reality - No coaching and learning provided - Not central location and poor transport... facilities - Complete disorder in the company on a global level as no one knows who is responsible for what and no one wants to take any responsibility but pointing fingers, which is not acceptable for such a global reputable company like BA - Poor career growth opportunities - Extremely complicated recruitment process taking 4-8 weeks - Prepare that no decisions are made in Dublin. You will always need HQ authorization and approval - 90% verbal and phone communication which takes a lot of your calendar time, most of the time for nothing. Everyone tries to avoid emails saying that "email is my enemy", so make sure to take notes of who said what and when as you will need it one day, unless you have a fantastic memory. - Do not trust anyone. Who is your friend today will turn into your enemy tomorrow. Stay professional but do not trust anyone in this company, they are all fake. - A lot of sales staff has been and is being made redundant after 20 years of service, so there is a lot of negativity around. Do not waste your careers by making this move. You will not learn anything but just waste your time, health and spoil your CV.

    Advice to Management

    - Change management in the Dublin office. Open your eyes for who you have hired and how they operate. You made a multi million investment in this office. So far it is more of a waste of money than an investment, unless you just needed a hub in EU due to Brexit. - Do not hire people before you have decided what you have hired them for. - Do not hire people and expect them to tell you what they were hired to do and... what they will be doing here. - Do not promise benefits if there are none - Review your staff travel benefits - they are ridiculous. Flights on Skyscanner are cheaper than on the internal systems - Just start corresponding to your brand really as what is going on in Dublin is very sad and no one in the HQ is aware about it. People leave their jobs to join a dream that is being sold to them in the interview, and are being fooled, because it is a career hell and not a dream.

I have been working at British Airways full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Family is always put first! Excellent benefits & Staff travel. Excellent performance based Bonus scheme. Excellent training opportunities. Working from home is easy and guilt free. Family is always put first. No 2 days are ever the same.

    Cons

It’s such a great company to work that people stay too long!! 30, 40 or even 50 years but this means they become jaded and institutionalised. They moan often and talk about the good old days and are unable to see how amazing this company is but can never leave due to fear. This is why BA rarely does well on such things as this. But don’t be fooled by the old grumps! They have no clue of how hard work is outside of... BA and god help them if they ever find out.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you’re doing, and don’t worry all the old moaners will soon be retired.
