Pros

Flexible work schedule as long as work is done. Good pay and benefits. Challenging work. Met some of the best engineers.

Cons

Career development is a mystery. While rest of the Bay area is moving towards encouraging and recognizing hard working and dedicated women in technology, seen a reverse trend at Box. While there are very good leaders at Box that support career development for engineers at lower levels, there are also some of them who are just so insecure and can really hurt their career growth. If you are a smart, dedicated engineer and only woman in your team, you will soon find yourself in situations where you have to allow your team to be really demeaning to you in the name of team work. Management goes by pure numbers, so you are at a loss.

It sounds like you’ve had a somewhat mixed experience in your time at Box and I’d definitely like to learn more about it. We are laser focused on creating an environment of belonging for all Boxers and in particular, have seen some great progress over time with regards to women in tech, women in leadership and overall women representation - certainly there is ALWAYS more we can & will do. If you’re willing, I’d very much like to connect and understand what’s going on with your team. Feel free to ping me directly (c@box.com). Thanks - Christy Lake, Chief People Officer

Pros

Competitive compensation and decent earning potential depending on segment. Opportunity to manage complex deal cycles. Broad product suite allows for cross-sell and solution-based selling. Active founder-led company

Cons

Poor management quality and leadership decisions can impact morale. Culture can feel less dull and lack energy especially compared to faster-growing tech companies. Selling the product can feel little exciting. Internal processes and decision-making can feel bureaucratic.
