Pros
Always impressed by the caliber of people I get to work with on a daily basis. Smart, driven people who want to do their best. As important, is our willingness to share information, collaborate and help each other. Each of us is enabled and encouraged to network, learn and chart our own path, this enables us all to be business leaders, functional experts or contributors. Its our choice, we can also help others based on our networks and my colleagues are very likely to do so.
Cons
The freedom we have has downsides, most people don't have a strong affinity to the overall group and the connection to the firm is waning with increased pressure on utilization and nose down management. Given our size, we're also more focused on larger complex jobs limiting involvement in business growth to fewer people. Also, with the leverage of our partner core, access and insight directly from senior leaders is more sparse and abbreviated. Other people have cited lack of promotion potential, I'd say get used to that, its a reality here. And, that the assessment process is lacking - yes, but its being reworked now, so we'll see.
