Pros

For starters, I love the people I work with. There are so many flavors of people here at O.co that I am constantly learning new things about cultures, beliefs and making new friends. I genuinely feel like all coworkers care about my well being in and outside of work. And they all would do almost anything to get me to smile. They make me feel like I am part of something bigger than myself, while not forgetting that I am an individual that has individual needs. That gives me a great reason to come into work each morning. I also have never heard of a company that takes care of their employees so well. From food, to appreciation gifts, to excellent insurance, to 401k benefits, I am always surprised to find a little bit more while I am at work. I also love the responsibilities and challenges that are given me. If I accomplish something well, I feel I am recognized for that and then given additional opportunities to prove myself.

Cons

One of the things that surprised me most when I started working here is the hierarchy of the company. Having never worked in corporate environment before, I did not know what I was getting into. Truthfully, it still intimidates me. I would rather feel like the management was more approachable instead of too busy to say hi when they walked through my office.

Pros

Fast paced environment with LOTS of hands-on experience with many different tools. The people are the reason to stay, lots of smart and caring people, managers, and leaders towards the bottom of the food chain.

Cons

Upper Management has completely destroyed this company and gutted it. In my several years at the company, communication is as poor as it could be. Bonuses are promised and then not followed up on. RIFs happen far too frequently. It is abundantly clear that this company does NOT care about it's employees, and at the moment is almost seems like they are trying as hard as they can to get people to quit so they don't have to pay severances before acquiring more companies and moving headquarters to Texas. The culture in the days of Overstock was incredible, it made people excited about being able to work there. Now people are hanging on by threads, large teams are now carried on the backs of just 1-2 people without additional pay as we see co-workers get laid off left and right. It is not sustainable. Important things are being missed because there are not enough people to do the work, which will end up biting the company in the butt for compliance and finance reasons.
