Pros
Compensation was satisfactory, not as high as the investment banks but sufficient with bonuses at my position between 50% - 70%. Health care was mostly paid by the bank, and they had certain other comp items (mortgage subsidy, personal loan subsidy, etc.) that many other banks do not have as well as a very generous vacation policy. The office culture in my area was fun but professional, with work having to be of high standard but you were mostly left alone to get it done as you saw fit. I enjoyed that independence.
Cons
There are several issues with BayernLB. Owned by the Free State of Bavaria in Germany, it is very conservative when it comes to business opportunities. It is also a process orientated bank, with much bureaucracy. Finally, in reaction to the European crisis as well as losses within Europe and elsewhere, BayernLB is retrenching within the US.
