Could be good but highly dependent on what group you are placed in - Summer Intern Barclays Employee Review

Pros

You get to work in financial capital of the world and there were are lot of activities outside of work to get involved with. You do learn things, that could be of use.

Cons

You are at the mercy of the group you are placed in which will either make or break your experience here. As much as HR will try, you will not always be placed in teams that will be of benefit to you or allow you to learn. This was really apparent as half of the interns on my intake were practically doing nothing and were stuck in limbo whilst the other half were actually given the opportunity to get on with things. This is primarily down to the way the bank is set up and operates.

Thank you for your feedback. It is very disappointing to read your experience on our summer intern programme. I will feed your comments into the team who manage this to ensure we create a challenging and developmental experience for all of our interns.
