If you are anything other than an architect you get looked down upon. Even if you are an architectural technical. They only promote people who are from the right background, if you're from a council estate, you will never get on in this place. They think that they can pay newly qualified architects just above minimum wage because its a 'privileged' to work at BDP. I remember when i was working there and one of the main bosses came to give a talk on how wonderful the company was. This bloke, i can't remember his name. Rocked up in a cravat, he looked like a complete idiot and gave a talk on how amazing BDP was, about 20 people in that room were on redundancy consultation, and this moron, who was a millionaire, was preaching some utter rubbish, talk about a kick in the teeth. I'll never forget that moment as i think it was the most disgraceful piece of hypocrisy I've ever witnessed. The Sheffield branch have directors on six figure salaries with absolutely nothing to do. Then they expect the cheap staff to do FREE OVERTIME. When the company is making millions of pounds in profit. It needs to be stopped. I really hope the government brings in some legislation which makes it illegal to make staff work more than their contracted hours for no more pay. BDP make millions of pounds more by staff doing overtime and not getting paid. The management basically tell staff they are expected to work for free as well.
