Cons
Heavy favoritism – the Canadian president approves big fat bonuses and luxury annual trips to the leadership team, but tell the whole company to cut costs. You’re more likely to be the favorite if you tell more on your co-workers (encourage gossiping). More people in meetings than people solving problems. Plus, more of the meeting time is spent discussing non-productive subjects like who’s going to present in this person’s absence. Lots of gossip, general distrustful of others, no team spirit, and take advantage of lower-level staff – since they’re not in the know. And questioning and distrusting of lower level staff feedback is the norm among higher ups. You’re simultaneously too important to leave with two weeks notice, and too unimportant for any appreciation or recognition or pay rise or promotion. To overload you while presenting it as a help, so you can prove your capabilities to get a career advancement or pay raise. Meanwhile you never get help on your workload during time of need like family matter, illness, vacations, etc. If you make a fuss, then it’s because the you’re not capable enough – and gets punished by being on the black list for not getting advancement or pay raise. If you do get any help in dire situations, it's presented as a favor. Ever since more days in office were pushed as a hard policy, the company started tracking everyone’s badge, without account of vacation, sick days, forget badges, etc. On top of this, the leadership team also have someone walking the floor to check who’s in office – very inflexibility on the “anchor” days. This pettiness is not a bug, but a feature through out this company. From the top down, there is a culture of self-entitlement. As a subordinate, you’re not just a helper in work, but also their person secretory – as if non of them can do self-management, or they’re too important for those tasks. The company make sure to better the facilities, so you can spend more of your personal time there. Everything you have is BD property because BD gave it to you directly or indirectly. So this entitlement to expect its people to give more into this bottomless pit.
