I left Salesforce to join Anaplan five years ago, and it was one of the best decisions I've made. Anaplan is an innovative, dynamic, and fast-paced company that has allowed me to grow professionally and personally. As a Sales Account Executive, I have had the opportunity to work with some of the brightest and most talented individuals in the industry. Anaplan's culture is one of collaboration, diversity, and inclusion, which has helped me feel supported and empowered throughout my time here. The following are some of the reasons why I truly enjoy working at Anaplan. Innovative and dynamic: Anaplan is constantly pushing boundaries and developing new technologies to stay ahead of the competition. The technology was the first thing that attracted me before joining Anaplan. I have been in the Enterprise Performance Management business since the mid 90's and I saw a platform that truly exploited advances in technology and saas to deliver a game changer for businesses and the teams that run their planning processes. I describe Anaplan in the same light as what Salesforce did for CRM, Anaplan is doing for connected business planning on one platform. Transformational Projects: As an employee, I have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects that are helping our clients transform their business. I am humbled to be part of a company that continues to put innovation at the heart of everything it does. As leaders in the Extended Planning and Analytics category, it's impressive to see the value our platform is creating for our customers and our customers' customers. I experienced this first hand when my father had a mini stroke at home, and the speed at which the SCAS NHS ambulance service arrived at my parents' home meant that his condition was managed quickly without too many serious consequences. SCAS NHS Ambulance services use Anaplan to ensure they have sufficient paramedics and ambulances available to meet the 999 calls in a timely fashion with one objective to save lives. Growth opportunities: Anaplan is committed to helping its employees grow professionally and personally. The company offers a range of training and development programs, and there are plenty of opportunities to advance your career within the organization. I recently moved roles from the UK business to lead the sales in the newly created Middle East territory. The support and direction from our senior leaders were excellent. Their advice ensured that it was the right career move, one that met my career aspirations as well as supporting company priorities. Talented team: Anaplan attracts some of the brightest and most talented individuals in the industry. Working alongside such skilled professionals is not only motivating, but it also provides me with an opportunity to learn from the best. Culture of collaboration: Anaplan fosters a culture of collaboration, where employees work together in a "Village" to achieve common goals. This culture of collaboration is not only beneficial for the company but also helps employees feel supported and empowered. Partnerships: Anaplan has a very impressive partner channel for a company of its size. I actively work in collaboration with a wide range of very large consulting firms to specialist boutique partners in all my project engagements, this gives me opportunities to learn best practices for a wide spectrum of planning use cases from the best in the industry Diversity and inclusion: Anaplan recognizes the importance of diversity and inclusion and strives to create an environment that is welcoming to all. This commitment to diversity and inclusion has helped create a culture of respect and understanding among employees, making it a great place to work. In conclusion, my experience at Anaplan has been nothing short of amazing. The company's commitment to innovation, growth, and collaboration has allowed me to thrive both professionally and personally. Cons

In most of the companies I worked for to date, I have struggled with a work-life balance. At Anaplan, there is the potential to get emersed into the deals, however, the company has made this a key focus and encouraged its staff to value a good work-life balance. During Covid, mental health and wellness were put on a priority, and the company introduced regular wellness days off for the entire business on top of our paid time off, which I am very grateful for.

Pros

One thing I genuinely appreciated was that the C-suite seemed invested in keeping everyone in the loop. The monthly town halls felt like more than just a formality and gave you a real sense of where the company was headed. When you had a good stretch, people noticed. The company feels like it has real momentum and on a macro level.

Cons

Leadership was inconsistent in my experience and seemed to depend heavily on which manager you ended up with. It often felt like luck of the draw. I personally found the planning process to be more reactive than strategic, with urgency only kicking in once results were already suffering rather than getting ahead of it. The workplace culture also had a gossip element that I found draining over time. My biggest frustration was around performance recognition. I observed situations where reported numbers didn't seem to reflect reality, yet the consequences appeared minimal at best. I would have liked to see more transparency and accountability around how top performers were identified and rewarded, because in my experience the current approach didn't always feel equitable to those who were playing by the rules.
