Pros
Really enjoy being a part of Amazon. The company is large, but it has somehow preserved a small company feel to it. Pay is great, and it seems that the company is willing to spend money to bring people together. I appreciate that a lot, but that part of it also seems like it depends on who your respective Director (L8) is in your organization.
Cons
Lack of growth. Amazon has a lot of people at one level reporting to individuals at the same level. This creates a huge hurdle for advancement in that most managers aren't going to push someone under them for promotion before they themselves are promoted. Some of Amazon's culture also gets a thumbs-down, IMO. Since joining the company, I've attended numerous meetings where we would debate trivial concepts and ideas ad nauseum for hours only to arrive at what was the most obvious way forward from the onset. Amazon has created an environment where everyone has a voice, but it comes at the expense of slowing down the decision-making process.
