Pros

- Work life balance is great. I would say that ~60% of the entire office is out of the door before 5:00 PM. They are early raisers though (probably because of the commute) and get in around 7/7:30. PTO at year one was 15 days and then bumped to 20 in year 2 (+ ability to roll over 5 and buy 5 more on top of that). - The starting pay in my department was competitve for a college grad. - The company was big enough to boost my resume - it is a large revenue, large portfolio company afterall. I feel like finding a job after Allstate was relatively simple and that firms wanted to hire me.

Cons

- The commute is, in a word, TERRIBLE. Really, if you don't live in Northbrook/Glenview coming from anywhere is terrible. I live in Chicago, near Union Station and would take the train to N. Glenview where a shuttle picked me up and drove me to Allstate. Each way the trip was, on average an hour and twenty minutes. At first I didn't mind, but after 8/9 months - I started to hate it. - Leadership cannot decide which way to take the company. They invest in projects that adversely effect the company. There was a large push to spend money regional and local marketing, which happened and sort of blew up in their faces. T-Willy is hanging on by a thread at the moment. - There are a lot of managers, leaders, vice presidents, etc that appartently do nothing. - The entire company is fixated on end-results and doesn't care how they get there. In my department it wasn't uncommon for immediate manager to 'fudge' numbers to meet performance results. It was really frustrating to watch and to deal with. It set a tone that was negative and, in a way, poisonious.

Pros

Consistent, busy, and you get to help people through tough situations and educate others on what it means to be protective. I am set schedule M-F and off on weekends.

Cons

Prices are a bit higher, and depending on how big your office is, you will be on the phone all day and feel drained afterwards.
