Pros

Its fun making coffees, there's plenty of opportunities to move up within the company and it was great as a part-time job, some lovely customers too.

Cons

Routine and boring work. Constant pressure to upsell things at the expense of customers who haven't realised what you're asking them is going to cost them money feels wrong to me. Annoying listening to customers complaining about the high prices when you have no control over them.

Pros

The kind and understanding customers

Cons

No support from management, area managers etc, bullying tolerated, no fairness and equality shown to employees with regards to using annual leave, if a person books time off yet a more favoured employee books the same period of time off after the previous employee the favoured employee will always be granted the time off over the employee who booked it first, no proper training, no support for a victim of bullying and no bullying procedures implemented, bullying investigations seem to favour the bully forcing the victim to seek employment elsewhere, a closer eye needs to be kept on management as I witnessed first hand management frauding the stock taking process. Staff coming in hungover and being allowed to hide out the back all day getting sick all over the place.

Pros

Free drinks and I work with a really nice team. For the most part, the customers are nice too. Can be very accommodating if you are a student or need unpaid time off sometimes. Making coffees can be fun too.

Cons

Minimum wage for most staff and low pay even at management level. Rotas given with very little notice, usually Weds or Thurs for the week starting on Friday. Regional managers and head office often make nonsensical decisions and have very little regard for employees. Low hour contracts even though you might be working 30+ hours a week. Overall, it feels like Costa only cares about making money and that comes across in how they treat their staff.
