COMPASS MINERALS=SALT'S COMCAST?

Pros

THERE WILL ALWAYS BE A NEED FOR SALT. WORK FOR ANY ONE OF THE MANY UNIONS, AND YOU'LL HAVE A JOB FOR LIFE AS LONG AS YOU PUT IN AN HONEST DAY'S WORK.

Cons

I do not recommend CMP for anyone NOT protected by any of the Unions. This company has lost it's "Compass" (pun intended). With the new regime, we've lost Leadership and we've lost direction. Sure, they can claim ''we're spending money hand over fist on Magellan! [CMP's attempt at modernizing] but it's a top-heavy, poorly implemented mess that's going to turn out poorly. CMP is already in a head-cutting mood, cutting people with institutional and intuitive knowledge and replacing them with "Yes Men" who don't understand the business. This company has tried and failed on Employee engagement; First it was Gallup, then it was "Keeping he people"....then it's another unconventional "Survey" that nobody got to see the data on. Lastly; people are no longer important. People are now assets like a tool or piece of equipment; they can and will be discarded for reasons entirely subjective. At one time, CMP cared about it's people. No Longer. Now it's a system built upon nepotism.

Pros

Free soccer jerseys every now and then

Cons

Leadership is extremely poor and out of touch, mostly incompetent Have laid off 100+ employees in 2023 Shareholders have no faith in this company Silos are very prevalent with little alignment Lots of saying the right things without any measurable action You WILL be frustrated the majority of the time Complete lack of accountability I would not recommend this company to an associate let alone a friend. I cant and im not the only one that wouldn't. I promise, most high performers will be tired of this place quickly. I was told to avoid this place by a handful of people when I expressed interest, I accepted after being convinced things are different than they were 10 years ago. I was wrong, and this is a dead end where you will not be able to actually make a difference and enjoy your work. If you want to show up to an office and do the same thing over and over day after day without really having a true purpose or making a difference then this might be a good spot for you. Other than that, avoid Compass Minerals. Their employees are a number and only the higher-ups benefit from the labor.

Pros

Fair pay, knowledgeable co-workers Great Product manager (if you are wondering if this is you - you’re not the right person) you know who you are KL!

Cons

unrealistic goals for outdated water soluble products. Extremely poor middle management (not all - but your rolling the dice as to what region and/or ABM you get). KPIs - NEWS FLASH*** You will be micro-managed Limited partners TURNOVER RATE (10 people in less than 2 years **Agriculture side of business... ranging from upper management to sales) Plenty more cons however, if you’re still thinking of working here I’m wasting my time elaborating :)
