Pros

Clara Analytics is in a fantastic position on paper. They're well funded, have generated lots of market attention, and is made up of a solid hardworking team of people. It's also currently a small company so there's a lot of opportunity to grow via wearing many hats.

Cons

Clara struggles with cultural issues from the top down. Hard work is expected, but very rarely acknowledged in meaningful ways. Their compensation and benefits are well below industry standard, with every bonus and raise given with the expectation that you sign away your undying loyalty. On top of that the promotions and raises that are handed out seem to somehow always find their way to the wrong people. The working conditions are also not ideal. With someone always looking over your shoulder it can be hard to work according to your personal style. Unlike most tech companies, they're very intent on the traditional 'crack of the whip' 9-5. Sick days are the CA legal minimum, and there's no work from home (except for upper management who do so regularly). The words 'relaxed', 'comfortable' or 'understanding' do not seem to be in their vocabulary; the only word management seems to be able to say is 'push.' Clara's management has a distinct lack of trust in it's employees. Upper management (in particular the CEO) has the attitude that they know best in every case. Suggestions and ideas from the employees that they hire are shot down if the management thinks they know better. Micromanagement is the default state of every project. This has created a backwards set of priorities in the company that seems to be turning into a snowball of bad decisions. All this combined has created an atmosphere of poor moral across the entire company. They have an extremely high turnover rate, and can barely hire as fast as people jump ship.

Pros

The team itself is filled with hardworking, talented (and apparently really patient) people.

Cons

If you are the type of person who has opinions, thinks independently, and wants to grow as a individual, this is not the place for you. Management's style is to micromanage and doubt their employees. Every decision you make will be questioned and overruled, regardless of the team's support or your technical knowledge in the field. Prepare to work late all year round - not due to distributed teams, but because management will first whip up an "urgent customer need" and then change their mind last minute. If you try to voice any concerns, you'll just be told to work on your attitude, be more flexible, and 'dig deep'. The biggest red flag is that management does not recognize any of these problems or the toxic culture they've created. Skeptical? Ask about retention rate for both customers and employees.

Management is a Joke!

Pros

Great product and great employees for the most part. Good benefits.

Cons

Executive team needs some sort of management training, including the CEO; the CEO is all over the place, a micromanager and unethical. Culture is going downhill and there appears to be high turnover.
