The interviewer was cordial, polite and to the point. They decided to go in another direction because they wanted someone who had more data experience (?); I don't quite understand that but that's the way it goes.
But the reason for the thumbs down was when they asked about my future career aspirations, I mentioned I wanted to be a data scientist. I was that was a deal breaker because I would eventually want more money to stay with the company; that spoke volumes about the company.
Another downside to the company is they are based in California. If you elect to work for them, and you are a remote worker, you will be required to pay California state income tax, which is the highest in the nation.
It's probably a good thing I didn't make the cut.
