Pros

You get to leave them and get back to an honest part of the world

Cons

Thrives, loan sharks, corrupt, bribe police to ignore their abuses, illegal and fake visas, irregular and excessive deductions from salary, chest you by creating spurious reasons to deduct money from your salary, so many more things...

Pros

I enjoy the kids, the parents can be very friendly, and I enjoy most of my colleagues. The lessons are premade for you, but often have mistakes, or nonviable teaching options. The pay is pretty good, too.

Cons

There is a lost of dishonesty within the company, mostly driven by the fact that they put profits before actual teaching. I have been lied to on multiple occasions, disrespected and insulted, there have been breaches of contract, and a lack of quality leadership which creates a very frustrating work environment, that at times has almost caused me to walk out. There are hours of useless meetings that go nowhere, because managers don't take the time to actually listen to their employees. If you care about your self respect, an honest work environment, or want to make an actual teaching contribution in China, do not work for this company.

Pros

They actually pay on time.

Cons

The contract means nothing. I had to pay for visa fees. They put in writing that they will provide working visas within a month upon arrival and that all fees included. The contract also states 'paid holidays' when in fact, holidays are borrowed. They make you work on your days off to make up for the holiday. The free Chinese courses are given by the staff, which is not structured and were often cancelled. Since most foreign teachers are working on a tourist visa, we were instructed to 'pretend' not to work for the company if the government officials came to raid the center. Also extremely unprofessional how the staff will pull you out from teaching a live class to do a Demo.
