Uncertain short term business outlook

It is a challenging, relatively new industry and high risk environment. Requires many iterations and launches to learn and improve the product which in turn increases the chances for anomalies and mishaps - it's just the environment.

*Must be okay with a bit of positive chaos (start-up feel)

The leadership team is the number 1 con. They don't respect their employees or trust them. They also frequently contradict themselves and provide very little transparency to the company and decisions they make. Additionally, teams function poorly with other teams, and professional communication between personnel is not prioritized. Human resources, focus on team building and career building is almost nonexistent. I had one review after being at the company over two years, which I found unacceptable. Finally, many hours of work are expected with little return or appreciation from the company or management. Too much is asked without offering anything in return. The lack of respect and appreciation at Astra for their employees was exhausting.

- maybe its the team I'm on, maybe its all teams but this place has been a confusing whirlwind of a culture and tough to ascertain what you really should be doing here.

This is not an Astra con, but more of a complexity about the aerospace industry in the United States: I believe all hires must be US Citizens, green card holders or have some sort of ITAR exemption — and that immediately limits some of the opportunities to hire.

* Irrational decision making, esp from the exec team. * Exec team generally. Despite their pedigrees, they are remarkably incapable. They do not value input or feedback, but most frustratingly, often fail to make sound business decisions. * Company leadership is not honest with their employees, rarely expresses appreciation, and struggles to make tough (or good) decisions. * The CEO - quite simply, he has questionable ethics, sees folks as transactional, and is often disconnected from the business. It's clear that he's mostly about his own standing or brand. I've never been at a company where the CEO is so widely disliked and disrespected. He offers little value but many liabilities. * Lack of focus and company alignment. 'Thrashy' is the word that you hear a lot internally.
