Pros

Big name clients, nice location, nice office. HR throws great parties to cover up the cons of working here. Most of the people here were enjoyable to work with.

Cons

Training is nonexistent. You will be expected to work overtime and on the weekends without pay. Severely low pay overall compared to other agencies in the area. Adcom tries to seem progressive and fun, yet they fired almost all of their POC employees in the middle of the BLM movement. COVID was handled extremely poorly (as the CEO wanted to keep people in the brand shiny new office that he purchased after laying off over 20 people in the middle of the pandemic). After a few months of that, five people in the building got COVID. The lack of care for employees' general well-being here is almost comical. You will be expected to be "on-call" when you're on PTO, so you never truly get time off. In the time I spent at Adcom, I watched over 20 people get laid off and 12 people voluntarily quit. Having worked at other agencies in the past, I can tell you this was by far the worst.

While we appreciate your opinion about your experience, the facts as stated are not accurate. Personally, and professionally, COVID has been challenging. The health of all those at Adcom remains our highest priority and we make every effort to ensure our teammates stay safe and well. Our talented and dedicated teammates are what propel our business forward. We are proud of and grateful for our Adcom team, the grit they show and the work they produce.

Toxic Environment

Pros

You are exposed to a ton of industries, clients and people. Helps you figure out pretty quickly what you like and don’t like.

Cons

- account managers aren’t managed through traffic so you’ll log 55-60hr weeks and nobody bats an eye but if you try to have a designer work 41 hours, you get immediate and forceful pushback - career goals are only listened to if they align with what AdCom needs of you at this moment - covid was handled terribly with the CEO’s main focus on how to get people back into the office asap even though we were in the middle of a pandemic. Salaries were cut twice during this time and all he worried about was our rebranding. - as per most agencies, we were so reliant on our clients projects that we sacrificed internal resources to get things done. - when I was leaving, I was offered all of these benefits that weren’t available to me while being employed which was so off putting because it shows I was very undervalued but extremely overwhelmed during my day to day

Thank you for sharing your comments. Our agency is fast-paced and we’re driven to help clients from a wide range of industries thrive in their competitive business environments. We’re also committed to supporting our teammates as they grow professionally, overcome challenges, and develop their passions for marketing, although we appreciate this environment isn’t right for everyone. While we know there will be occasions when pressing deadlines need to be met, we care deeply about the well-being and work-life balance of all our teammates. As you will know, one of our core values is constructive candor and we appreciate your thoughts. Should you wish to share more specific detail about your experience, please reach out. Pros

Brand new office overlooking the Cuyahoga River in the heart of Downtown Cleveland. This place is a dream at first glance, but don’t be deceived by the fancy spiral staircase, chili cook-offs, and free beer.

Cons

Unsustainable workloads and a toxic culture that glorifies workaholism. You’ll be praised in front of the agency one day and then treated like trash the next. If a client becomes dissatisfied, look out, because it’s every man for themselves. You’ll get thrown under the bus by teammates you thought you could trust *so fast* your head will spin. Boundaries are unhealthy (i.e. nonexistent) and there is no work/life balance. If you’re willing to run yourself ragged by logging insane hours and don’t mind sacrificing your mental health to meet unrealistic demands and expectations (all while earning a fraction of what the agency makes off your blood sweat and tears) then this is the place for you. It’s pretty much perfect for go-getting grads with no families and no lives who are eager to #hustle for “cool” clients — as long as there’s beer on tap in The Stir.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts. We certainly believe in constructive candor at Adcom and expect and encourage all teammates to share their views. We work hard at Adcom and greatly value the work ethic that teammates bring to the table, understanding there are times when deadlines have to be met. We equally value the need, encourage and support our teammates to keep a healthy work/life balance. Trust is crucial to a successful team, and we work hard to build and maintain trust across the agency, through teams, and between teammates. We appreciate and respect this environment is not for everyone. If you would like to discuss your experience in greater detail, please feel free to reach out to me.
