      Manager Interview

      19 Oct 2023
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer

      Application

I applied online. The process took 5 months. I interviewed at williamsworks

      Interview

I applied through LinkedIn and was emailed for an interview. The person who made contact with me ended up not being on the call (weird, but not the worst) with no warning and another employee interviewed me. She was lovely and we had a nice initial chat, but I thought it was weird. I had a second interview with the same woman. I was brought back to do a third round I was told would be with the founder and the person who initially reached out to me, and I was assigned a project to present. When I logged onto the zoom for the third round, it ended up being with the same person I had already interviewed with twice, and two lower level employees. No one told me of the change, which I found super weird and unprofessional. It seemed like a super under the radar place given that their job titles were all very general and the few projects they list publicly on their website are described in vague terms. I asked how they had all ended up at Williamsworks and the woman who had now interviewed me twice told me that she’d found her role on LinkedIn and applied randomly. The two other folks were the founder’s nephew and the child of a close family friend (nepo vibes). Overall I got a bad vibe and didn’t get an offer. Months on, neither the person that interviewed me three times or the person who initially reached out that I never ended up meeting are still with the org. The two nepo babes are though. Between the three interviews and the work sample they asked me to prepare, they wasted a lot of my time and were weirdly never able to describe the specifics of the role and what they do. Feel like a dodged a real bullet on this one!

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

There was a work sample I had to provide. The instructions for it were SUPER general so I did my best. I presented it in my third interview and was told there was an accompanying in interview activity. That activity was to prepare an email as if I was sending my prepared assignment to a client, so everyone turned their camera off and watched me WRITE AN EMAIL. I have a masters degree- talk about micro management. On top of this they provided 0 details (who is the client? How much do they already know about the project? What’s the status of our relationship with them?) It felt like a big joke.
