I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at theScore in Mar 2024
Interview
2 part process.
- Live Coding exercise and System design.
- Know your candidate with EM and senior software engg
Good: It was an easy interview and fast process. Kudos to HR for being responsive.
KYC EM round was good. They seem to know what they were asking and were attentive.
Bad:
- Every interviewer had half the frontend/industry experience I had. They have software engineer leading the panel for hiring Senior software engineer. Panel was surprised why I am applying for this job.
- During system design interview, there were 2 interviewers and they both seem super awkward and bored - felt like they were forced to take this. One interviewer didn't know anything and didn't even ask anything. The other person asked all the questions but was yawning in between the questions. If you are too tired, please get a coffee. Both were junior roles and were not suited to take system design interviews - it should architect/Staff dev who should take these rounds. They were asking questions which were more suited for coding round than system design. Also my dude - system design is not about choosing front-end framework.
I already had a 30% higher offer from an US firm so would decline the offer but the score should improve their hiring process. Please don't allow junior roles to interview senior roles.
