Responsible for reviewing and evaluating content, editors are highly attentive to detail, organised and collaborative. In an interview, expect to be asked about how you work with deadlines, your toolbox of editing systems and where you find your ideas for stories. Particularly desirable are candidates with strong communication skills who can work well in teams.
Here are three top editor interview questions and tips on how to answer them:
How to answer: When working as an editor, you will face deadlines for when you have to return the work to the writer or project manager. Highlight any tools you use to track and manage deadlines, such as a calendar or task management system. You can also use this question to describe your work ethic and situations in which you've faced and maintained tight deadlines for clients or team members. This question also works well to discuss your prioritisation skills.
How to answer: Editors often face tedious and monotonous tasks, such as proofreading, checking sources and fact-checking. When answering a question about maintaining your focus, talk about any processes you have in place to stay alert as you review other people's words. For example, if you read sentences aloud when assessing grammatical correctness or use a digital tool to check facts, describe these habits.
How to answer: An editor often has to provide constructive feedback to writers and content experts. They need to be able to do so in a way that benefits the other party while maintaining a professional and positive tone. Outline your communication skills and ability to provide feedback in a way that does not generate a negative or defensive response.

Pls answer the McQ cactus questions Question 1: COMPREHENSION Read the following unedited passage and pick the statement(s) that is/are accurate among the options provided. In China, domestic sewage discharged from decentralized villages is important component of non-point source (NPS) pollution, and causing severe degradation of aquatic ecosystems and rural environments. Constructed wetland (CW) is regarded as an attractive alternative for decentralized wastewater treatment and NPS pollution control because of its low cost and high convenience to construct and operate Other benefits such as eco-friendliness, high sustainability and aesthetic value also make CW a popular wastewater treatment technology. Pollutants are removed by integrated physical, chemical and biological processes in CW, including plant uptake, substrate adsorption and the most importantly, microbial degradation. Studies have found dissolved oxygen (DO) concentration to be key parameter affecting microbial processes for pollutant removal in CWs. In horizontal subsurface-low constructed wetlands (HSSCWs), a CW type, Anoxic conditions are usually prevailing due to poor reaeration, which favors anaerobic processes such as denitrification. However, aerobic reactions, especially nitrification, tend to be restrained in many HSSCWs, leading to less nitrogen removal efficiency. A. In HSSCWs, anoxic conditions prevail, and nitrogen removal efficiency is lower owing to limited nitrification. B. NPS pollution control has benefits such as eco-friendliness, high sustainability, and aesthetic value, in addition to being inexpensive and easy to construct and operate. C. Microbial degradation is an important step in the operation of CW systems, and dissolved oxygen concentration has been reported to be a key factor in this step. D. Severe degradation of aquatic ecosystems and rural environments can be completely eliminated using CW, which is a popular wastewater treatment technology. Less

Test Name : Earth and Environmental Sciences ☰ 1:28:38 Question 9: COMPREHENSION Read the following unedited passage and identify the INCORRECT/ILLOGICAL statements from the alternatives below. The variability of wind as a power generation source makes necessary proper study, and particularly its behavior close to the surface in order to be able to characterize and forecast it with proper accuracy, allowing an efficient coordination regarding energy generation as well as a safe use of the electric grid. This work is a first approach to the study of the atmospheric boundary layer and its behavior in a coastal context for help with the development of a better wind power forecast. First, study the effect of the surface by calculating the friction, the heat transport and quantifying then their effect depending on the direction by calculating the Monin-Obukhov length. A. Proper study of wind makes it possible to control its variability and ensure efficient power generation. B. This study is the first attempt at understanding the atmospheric boundary layer and its behavior in a coastal context in order to aid development of better wind power forecasts. C. The effect of the surface was studied by calculating friction and heat transport and quantifying their effect depending on the direction by calculating Monin-Obukhov lengths. D. Studying the behavior of wind power generation close to the surface is necessary for characterizing and forecasting it with good accuracy. Less

I am not sure if the questions posed were for the benefit of the organization but it truly helped me understand the unprofessionalism in there. what do you mean by stability? do you expect people to retire from Cactus once they join? what is the longest time you expect an employee to stick to the same company? i dont think it is is either in benefit of the company or that of the employee to stick on forever. I believe that asking such questions was not done on purpose, but because of a lack of training and awareness Nevertheless, thanks for letting us all know about the organisation right on day one. Thank you for your reply, Global Talent Acquisition, Cactus Communications. Nevertheless, it is still disappointing to have lost a great opportunity to work with Cactus Communications, due to some silly, baseless "apprehensions". I would have taken it positively had I not cleared the technical tests, and worked towards it. But the reason given to me is not justifiable at all. Less

I had to say no because I didn't want to falter in anyway and lose this great opportunity. Had I known they were so unprofessional, I wouldn't have answered this question. Secondly, if they can ask me such sensitive questions, why didn't they clear their doubt if I will work there for long term or get bored eventually. Less

I would return the question, what would you do if after hiring me you found an amazing candidate that would work twice like me and ask for half as much? Less

There's monetary income and there's psychological income. Very often, the first will satisfy on the short term, but the second carries on for the long term. A good working environment, an exciting and intellectually stimulating job, and a package of good benefits go a long way in making an employee happy. Less

There are many factors to be considered before deciding to move to another workplace, once I have started working at a specific company. They include, but are not limited to employee treatment, company's short term and long term goals, company's social o community policies, opportunities for employees' growth and job stability. A temporary or apparent advantageous opportunity elsewhere might not seem so brilliant if we analyse of these factors. So, I would stay with the company that provides the best working environment, fair compensation and opportunities to grow, as well as a philosophical approach to society as a whole and the community around it that is beneficial and positive.
