At first I thought this was a question about doing what is right versus what i am told to do, turns out the company likes the kind of environment where people just do what they are told. This might be the hardest question. Less

Blau + Associates

He was very focused on what salaries I had made in my past positions and not what skills I could bring as a culinary professional and leader.

As I chose not to answer him on my salaries (not relevant in my opinion), this appeared to irritate him even further. I've had different positions at differing levels in my career and each paid accordingly. In my opinion, my previous salaries had no bearing on the position I was applying for. A few very talented friends or former colleagues had also applied and some accepted positions with Blau and Associates at Parq Vancouver. They have all now left because of the negative atmosphere, bullying and ongoing harassment by the owners and senior leaders. Turnover at Blau is extremely high and the environment is best described as toxic. In an industry that is already short staffed, Blau is not helping themselves (or Parq Vancouver) by treating people so poorly either during the interview phase, as an employee or after they leave. Although the questions asked were very easy, the interview process was not professional, which to me, was a precursor of what the working environment would be like. Less
