      Civil Engineer Interview

      26 Dec 2025
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Sofia, Sofia (city)
      Declined offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at Züblin (Sofia, Sofia (city)) in Dec 2024

      Interview

The process of interviewing was a few days long. All the stages of the process were managed by the Regional manager (the highest manager in the country, something of a CEO). Initially it was a single one hour long interview where we talked about many thing (getting to know each other), including company goals, personal goals, expectations and so on (everything except salary). Then the approved candidates (felt lucky to be one of them) get to go and work for a day or two in their office with the purpose of "trying out the work place and the work itself". At the end of the second day you sit down again and talk with the Regional manager for a final discussion about how was your experience, what they noticed about you and mainly what is the salary range of the position. In my case, I excelled in all the stages (it was even confirmed by them as well). During the final talk, when I got to the final question about the salary, I expressed my expectations (which were not high at all), considering the complexity of the work, Then the Regional manager said that my expectations are exceeding their salary budget and he could propose lower salary. After hearing that I just stood up, wished them "Have a nice day!" and left... The salary they proposed was a bit higher than the minimum wage in the country, which is absurd for a engineering position.

      Question 1

They asked me a few times "Considering the everyday work we do, do you think you will like it here?"
