I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Walmart (Idaho Falls, ID) in Sept 2010
Interview
I applied online and after a week I called to ask about my application and was told that the hiring manager was Brenda, and that she would call me when she had looked it over. After another week of not hearing back I called again and asked again. I eventually talked with the hiring manager (I think she called me back a few days later), she apologized for taking so long and scheduled me for an interview that week. I went in and had to wait at the customer service area for awhile until she had time, then we walked into the back area (later known as the "office") and she sat me down and asked me a few questions, but had to leave and had one of her CSMs finish for her. My first impression was that the people I encountered were immature, but manageable. I got a second interview the same day about a half hour later with the hiring manager and she offered me the job on the spot.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
How have you handled difficult or angry customers in the past (if any) and if not, then how would you handle the situation?
Easy to accomplish and not very difficult. Seemed if you used common sense you’ll be okay. Just be yourself and go in there prepared. Good luck! I didn’t get an offer but I was fine with that.
Fairly easy. Multiple rounds. Just have positive attitude. They’ll do an initial round. And then you meet with 2 other supervisors on 2 different occasions. They just want to make sure you will be friendly to customers and be able to listen and follow directions
The interview was fine but you definitely get the big box store vibe. It was a bit rushed through, I could tell the manager was going through the motions but I also don’t necessarily expect anything more.
