      Senior Software Engineer Interview

      25 Aug 2015
      Anonymous employee
      Campbell, CA
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Vital Connect (Campbell, CA) in Oct 2012

      Interview

Interview arranged with the VP of Software Development and with 3 of the 4 members of the team. Was asked to white-board a database solution for a complicated problem, and asked about Ruby / Java concepts and scalability concepts. The entire affair lasted about 3 and a half hours, and the questions were quite pertinent to the job. I appreciated that the common 'gotcha' questions were avoided, which tend to test how good a candidate is at interviewing rather than their strengths for the specific position.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Design a relational schema to accomplish the task of reserving tables at a restaurant, where a party can be of any size and there is a fixed set of tables with specific capacities available.
