      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Varnish Software (Oslo) in Feb 2026

      Interview

Found on LinkedIn. Process is quite straightforward but maybe lagging with feedback. 1st interview with HR. It shall be hiring manager next but in my case was CTO and Head of Tech. Last interview shall be with the team. Process includes home assessment in form of varnish enterprise presentation.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

A lot of questions about HTTP, CMCD. General questions about linux and docker/k8s. Home assessment to pitch varnish enterprise features.

      Interview

The whole process took about a month and a half. I was first contacted by a recruiter from the company and had a first short interview with her. Then I had a second interview with a manager who afterwards sent me a technical test. Apparently it didn't go so bad because I got a third interview with two senior engineers who asked me a bit about my background and explained the day to day job. I then got a fourth interview with a sales man who after the interview told me that he wanted me to have a talk with a sales manager (who hadn't started in the company yet). I think it's worth mentioning that during the whole process I was constantly told that the feedback provided by everyone about me was really good and that's why I was continuing with the process. I then had a fifth interview with that manager who told me that he was still not working for Varnish, which was a bit strange. Afterwards I got a call from recruiter saying that I didn't get the job because I lacked experience in content delivery and sales, which were not in the job description but I did have some experience on. In the job description they said they were looking for someone with dev or sysadmin background and CDN experience was a plus, but all of the sudden I wasn't chosen because of that. I can only think that the last person didn't like me, but I have the feeling that they were not being transparent. The process was incredibly slow and poorly handled. The recruiter was nice and polite and always replied to me in a timely manner, no complains about her.

      Question 1

In the technical test I was asked to build a Varnish instance to cache a page with a video from their website and provide the HTTP headers. There were also a couple of questions regarding content delivery and CDN.
