      Benefits Assistant Interview

      22 Jan 2018
      Anonymous employee
      Portland, ME
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 days. I interviewed at Unum (Portland, ME) in Jan 2018

      Interview

The entire process was quick and smooth. I submitted an application early in the week, and by mid-week I was given the opportunity to have a phone interview. That lasted about 45 minutes. Initially, I applied for a different position, but the interviewer said that based on my skills and background, she thought I'd be better off in the Benefits Center. I hadn't read up on this, so she informed me of the details, emailed me some more information on it as well as a handout to prepare for the next interview, and allowed me to go to an in-person interview the following day. In-person, I had a behavioural event interview, in which the interviewee is asked about different occasions that they exhibited skills and traits. These may be times that you worked independently, or that you took responsibility for messing up a project or (in my case) a customer's order. Questions of that nature. After the interview (and opportunity to ask my own questions), I was told that the three women that interviewed me would talk about the results and I would get a call for better or worse by the end of the next business day, out of respect for my job search process. 20 minutes after I returned home, I received a phone call with the offer for the position.
