I applied online. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Ulta Beauty (Indianapolis, IN) in Jul 2017
Interview
two step interview, face to face following a hand on coloring service display on a live model. Before the practical there was a 10 question quiz asking basic cosmetology questions such as:
the different layers of a hair follicle
which way to cut in order to achieve weight or the appearance of length
primary colors
Very easy and quick process. Horrible benifits, they make you tart off as part-time only.
Only advise this for new out of school students, especially since the commission is so bad. If you'd worked somewhere else you'll get annoyed because you'll remember how much more you could be making.
The regional manager was ghosting me when I made several attempts inquiring about the position as hairstylist. I interviewed in February of 2020 and was accepted the position. Sadly Covid came.
I applied/inquired two times after Covid and the manager never called me back. When I finally got her on the phone she was very abrupt, dismissive, and said she is not hiring. That was not true, they are hiring.

General manager was super sweet, I think every location is different, My location was a new one so everything went by quickly. You need to do a practical interview as well.
