I waited for the call at the scheduled time; when it didn’t come through, I sent an email. Then about 5 minutes later, the call came in, but no reason was given to me for the lateness. The caller sounded as though they were finishing a meal.
In the background, I could hear a lady yelling obscenities while talking with a co-worker, and that was a bit of a distraction and very disconcerting.
The first question I was asked was “What do you know about the company?”, and then began telling me things I already knew based on my research of the company. After this, I was asked “Do you have any questions for me?”I had many questions, as I was seriously interested in the position. I was puzzled when I realized I knew that the upcoming ACS in 2022 was going to be 100% virtual, and they didn’t know.
I wasn’t asked any behavioral questions or anything related to my experience with software applications or competencies related to the job description. Questions were very generic about my overall experience in training, my willingness to travel 25% of the time, and about my willingness to refrain from taking a vacation during the most busiest months for the company(July/August). Was also asked about my salary requirements.
There seemed to be no enthusiasm or motivation about recruiting for the position. When I asked about next steps, I was told that a decision was going to be made quickly, and that I should expect a call by EOB Friday. Friday came and past, and I didn’t get any communication from anyone in the company. I sent an email yesterday (Wednesday)morning requesting an update, and still no response whatsoever.
It made me feel as though they were simply trying to meet an interview quota or check in a box for a particular criteria, with no genuine interest in the interview process.
