I was hired as a contract worker for Life Tech (Thermo Fisher) by one of their corporate staffing firms. I first submitted my resume to the staffing agency directly. Then, a recruiter from the agency called me and spoke to me about the position and said I sounded like a good fit if I was still interested. I said yes, so she said she will submit my resume to the manager at Life Tech. About a week later, I got a call from the manager at Life Tech and did a phone interview that lasted roughly 25 minutes. Then, about a week later, I was offered the position through the staffing firm.

Degrading having to build a childs toy to compete with other adults for a position, while a table of at least 10 managers and team leaders watched making notes. I had over 13 years experience and didn't get the job as I was too old to have every used the type of toy to build. Unfair system not allowing people to prove themselves. Just because someone does well on the day, it doesn't mean they were the best for the job. Had I known the outcome I would have expressed my thoughts on the day. I found some of managment smug and personal which I felt discriminated by too.
