      Welcome Center Front Desk Interview

      4 Dec 2013
      Anonymous employee
      Middletown, NY
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

The process took 1 day. I interviewed at The Y (YMCA) (Middletown, NY) in Jan 2011

      Interview

I replied to an ad in a local newspaper and received a response within about 2 weeks saying they didn't need anymore employees at this time. I responded to that email stating that I was disappointed and re-stated why I would do well with their company, listing my years of experience with another health club. I received a phone call from the Branch Director a day later stating that 2 positions opened up and if I was still interested would I come in for an interview. I was told the rate of pay started at 8.00/hr. and would increase to $8.50/hr. after 90 days and the 2 shifts that needed to be filled, one on the weekend and the other during the week.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

I always find the most difficult question in an interview to be, "What are your weaknesses and strengths." On both sides of the coin I don't like to seem incapable and at the same time I don't like to brag. I know I have to sell myself but doing it without sounding over confident is a fine line.
