I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at The Body Shop in Oct 2013
Interview
The day after I applied online, I was called in for an interview for the next day by one of the managers. I arrived a bit early and was told that another person had been called in to interview at the same time, and would I mind waiting just a little while for them to arrive? I waited and chatted with the assistant manager to learn more about the store and their products. When the other applicant arrived, we were asked a series of questions, and then given a product to demonstrate our abiity to not only recall information, but to convey it back to a potential customer. all in all, the actual interview took about an hour, maybe less. At the end of the week, I received a call back to complete the paperwork necessary to start work.

Easy interview. Felt more like a conversation than being grilled on my resume. The manager asked me about my interests in the industry and my thoughts on skincare. I was asked behavioral questions as well.
