I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at The Bertelsmann Foundation
Interview
The foundation does not do their own hiring and outsource it to a random woman. She wasn't familiar with Think Tanks or Public Policy at all. She wasn't able to evaluate my skills, as a result, and talking to her was as stimulating as a talking to a brick wall. This experience completely altered my view of the Bertelsmann Foundation as it was so different than the process of the organization where I'm currently working. Unimpressive and a little embarrassing to be frank,

I applied through university. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at The Bertelsmann Foundation (Washington, DC) in Feb 2015
Interview
The process was fairly long. I sent in an application in the beginning of my school semester and did not hear back for a few weeks. Eventually I came in for a one-on-one interview, which was relaxed and open. Due to technical difficulties on their side, I did not start for another month. During this time period I followed up 1-2.

The interview was mostly behavioral questions, specifically focused on my previous research, think tank, and regional experience.
